Hynix to Start New Korean Production Line for NAND Ahead of Schedule
January 25, 2008
According to a report by Dow Jones, Korean Hynix stated on January 21 that it will start mass production at its new 12-inch wafer line in Cheongju in Korea in March 2008, ahead of the original date of May. The new production line, which will produce NAND memory chips, will slowly be expanded to a capacity of 130,000 units per month after it goes online.

Hynix also operates NAND production facilities in Wuxi, China. These facilities in China are operated in cooperation with STMicro. In October 2006, the construction of a 12-inch wafer line was completed.

Hynix-STMicro's 12-inch production line in China had a capacity of 10,000 wafers per month as of late 2006 and this figure was expected to increase to 45,000 units by the end of 2007.
